Yashwanth Piratla
Mechanical engineering student focused on mechanical design, robotics, CAD, manufacturing, and hands-on engineering.
I'm pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Most of my engineering experience comes from FIRST Robotics Competition — four years on Team 4131, the last of them as president of a 40-member team — where the deadline is a competition and the test is whether the mechanism survives the match.
What I like about mechanism design is the loop: define the requirement, package it into the space you actually have, manufacture it, watch it fail in a way you didn't predict, and redesign the one part that's wrong instead of starting over. Most of my project pages are organized around that loop, because that's where the engineering actually happens.
